This second installment from Ross Shonhan, the former Zuma and Nobu chef behind Bone Daddies, is located within the bustling Seven Dials area in Covent Garden. Flesh & Buns is be the first restaurant in London to specialise in hirata buns (DIY filled steamed buns).
Dishes from the four sections of the menu include sashimi and oysters served with Japanese flavours as well as a selection of sushi rolls, salads and Japanese bar snacks such as Chicken yakitori; Prawn tempura with yuzu ponzu; and fried squid with Japanese pepper and lime. Guests can enjoy some innovative desserts such as kinako doughnuts with black sugar custard; S’more: marshmellows, chocolate, matcha and biscuits; and crispy bananas with yuzu mojito sorbet.
Ross says: “I want to inject a bit of fun and humour into London’s Japanese restaurants and love seeing people kick back, relax and enjoy some great food and drink that’s not too serious.”
