    Hawksmoor Air Street

    Hawksmoor Air Street is now open, just off Piccadilly. Situated on the first floor and overlooking Regent Street, Hawksmoor Air Street is a 235-cover restaurant and 55-cover cocktail bar with interiors inspired by the Piccadilly location – the heart of Art Deco London. It is not only the biggest opening to date for owners Will Beckett and Huw Gott but also an exciting new challenge, with seafood, the boys’ current obsession, featuring as prominently on the menu as the famous steaks. Since man can not live on steak alone, Will and Huw have teamed up with Mitch Tonks, renowned seafood chef and proprietor of The Seahorse (which recently won OFM Restaurant of the Year) in Dartmouth to help create the menu and, more importantly, to ensure that Air Street offers the freshest, best quality sustainable seafood.

    The menu at Air Street features fish such as turbot, monkfish, royal bream and Dover Sole grilled simply over charcoal, alongside Dartmouth lobster which, like the larger steak cuts, is sold by weight, and then steamed to order in a specialist pressure steamer. A new selection of sides include Braised fennel and trotter and Potatoes, shrimps and parsley. Starters include Roast scallops with white port and garlic, Fried Queenies with tartare sauce and Shrimps on toast alongside the old favourites, Tamworth belly ribs and Grilled bone marrow with slow cooked onions.

    All the classic Hawksmoor steak cuts, including the 600g Bone-in sirloin and the 55 day aged Drump are, of course, available, as are the ‘dictionary-thick’ cuts for sharing. To finish, Carla Henriques, Hawksmoor’s pastry chef has created desserts  that play on favourite childhood sweets including Hawksmoor Jaffa Cake, Salted Caramel Rolos and Ferrero Rocher Sundae.

    Will says, “We’ve absolutely loved doing seafood alongside our steaks, and having done the soft launch it seems people have really enjoyed our philosophy on both things – sourcing the best ingredients we can possibly find and cooking them simply over charcoal.”

    Mitch says, “working on this with Will, Huw, Richard and the team has been fantastic, not just because they’ve been so enthusiastic about the seafood and what I do in  general, but because to see something of this scale done to this standard, yet feel so personal, is a rare thing”.
