    Most Exciting Restaurant Openings 2016

We’ve been writing recently about London’s restaurant boom. This expansive time for the industry means practically every month there’s a big new restaurant opening to get excited about.

Here, our London restaurant property experts share the restaurant openings they’re getting excited about in 2016.

    Viajante

Nuno Mendes’ current project is the Chiltern Firehouse, where he is Executive Chef. If this isn’t enough to get you excited about his next project, Viajante, then you must be one of the City’s stoniest critics. Of course, this isn’t a new project, but the (hopefully) triumphant return of the Viajante restaurant he used to run in Bethnal Green. We know the location, Metropolitan Wharf in Wapping, and we know the price of a meal and drinks, around £150 per head. The rest is an exciting mystery.

    Opening autumn 2016.

    Pharmacy 2

After a nearly two decades of seeing his divisive art hanging in other people’s restaurants, Damien Hirst is relaunching his 1998 Notting Hill restaurant, Pharmacy, inside his new gallery in Vauxhall. As YBA art and London’s fine food world grow chummier, we suspect Hirst will have something suitably controversial up his sleeve with the exciting new restaurant project.

    Opening 23rd February.

    Padella

Tim Siadatan and Jordan Frieda, the duo behind Trullo, are opening a new restaurant called Padella (‘pan’ in Italian) on the other side of town, in Borough. Like Highbury, Borough is a restaurant hotspot, but by keeping Trullo favourites like beef shin pappardelle on the menu, while also developing an exciting range of new dishes, they hope to replicate their initial success.

    Opening spring 2016.

    StreetXo

This year, after much delay, we can look forward to three Michelin Star chef David Muñoz opening his first restaurant in London. Best known for DiverXo in Madrid, we are assured that Muñoz will bring his signature divine madness to London. Expect StreetXo to be a unique take on street food.

    Opening in 2016.
