Barbecue restaurant Porky’s is set to open a third site in east London next month (October), as part of the brand’s overall expansion plans.
The 50-cover, 1,200 sq ft Boxpark Shoreditch site will be the brand’s third, after its original Camden venue and recently-launched Bankside location.
Co-founded by husband-and-wife team Simon and Joy Brigg after they travelled around America, the London-based business is in a period of expansion. It hopes to roll out 10 sites in total within two years, including in Soho, Smithfield, King’s Cross and Clapham.
The Shoreditch location will take up four of the shipping containers that make up the Boxpark development, which is a two-storey line of several containers placed next to each other.
The menu will feature a mix of Memphis-style barbecue dishes – such as hickory-wood-smoked ribs, and pulled-pork sandwiches) ‒ America-inspired cocktails, and a wide selection of bourbons and rye whiskies, as well as craft beers.
The restaurant will also play a soundtrack of classic country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll tracks, with a décor inspired by the music of the Deep South.
Simon Brigg commented on the new opening: “We were always hoping to open our third site soon but have been pleasantly surprised to find one so quickly.”
Mark Calder of advisers Restaurant Property, which is helping Porky’s in its expansion aims, added: “Boxpark has become one of the world’s most creative markets with a reputation for showcasing some of the coolest new concepts. It is a great pitch for Porky’s.”
The company opened its second venue on London’s Bankside in April this year.
