It’s always exciting when you hear about a new Salt Yard Group restaurant opening. Their most recent restaurant is called Veneta and will draw its inspiration from the ancient Italian city of Venice, with the aim to bring the vibes of St Mark’s Square to St James’s Market. The inspiration is evident in its design, but of course tempered with an element of modern glamour and Salt Yard Group will be showcasing their distinctive spin on Venetian food and food culture.
Veneta will be overseen by Chef Director Ben Tish and executed by Head Chef Jamie Thickett (formerly of Opera Tavern). The menu will be inspired by classic Venetian dishes, cooking techniques and will showcase the amazing produce from the region. A classic raw bar will offer a selection of delicious seasonal British and Venetian seafood. Carefully sourced artisan charcuterie and cheeses from the Veneto region will be served from a beautiful handmade trolley. Breakfast will be a delight, offering both indulgent and healthy options, all with a Venetian twist.
Taking stylistic inspiration from all-day, Venetian-style grande cafés, the double-height dining room features a mezzanine floor while outside an alfresco terrace overlooks the new development’s pedestrianised zone. The restaurant has 110 covers in areas that combine classic bar-counter seating, banquette booths and intimate tables.
The wine list will pay homage to one of the oldest wine heritages in the world and will feature exclusive wines from Northern Italy.
